ECCO Road Show Wrap Up

The ECCO Concrete Sustainability Road Show 2003 is completed. More than 900 architects, planners, builders, students, professors, and concrete industry personnel attended workshops and presentations at 13 venues.

WORKSHOP CD

A CD compilation of the workshop presentations across Canada and the U.S. has been sent to all attendees. Extra copies of the CD are available for purchase ($30.00, see Catalog.)

The workshop CD includes:

I. Keynote speeches;

II. Case Studies presented at the regional workshops,
a. LEED and Concrete, b. Concrete Sustainability, c. Urban Planning; and

III. ECCO publications.

TAPED KEYNOTE SPEECHES CD

A new PowerPoint and audio CD record of the keynote speeches is available for purchase ($30.00, see Catalog). Three AIA Learning Units will be offered separately (for purchase) with these talks. The taped CD is offered to university educators at a special discount rate of $15.

The taped CD includes:

- Dr. Jacqueline Glass of Loughborough University covers a wide range of examples where concrete and cement contribute to the sustainability of the built environment. As an architect, Dr. Glass focuses on contributions of building systems, but includes examples of other projects such as pavements, waste stabilization, and water pipes.

- Martha VanGeem of Construction Technology Laboratories presents sustainability concepts, the role of concrete as structure and thermal mass, and potential applications of concrete in achieving LEED points, with U.S. examples of these topics.

- Dr. Katie Williams of Oxford-Brookes University focuses on sustainable project development around the world from a planner’s perspective, with U.K. examples of these topics.
