What is the ECCO Reference Library?
The ECCO Reference Library was developed as a resource for information on the environmental impacts of concrete and concrete construction. It includes literature from technical, trade, popular, and news sources. The Reference Library now stands as a collection of nearly 2000 bibliographic references. Along with bibliographic citations, you will also find abstracts that describe the content of each item.
How was the ECCO Reference Library developed?
ECCO contracted with research organizations to perform searches of recently published literature, write abstracts of the articles relevant to the subject of concrete and the environment, and provide hard copies of the complete articles.
How can I obtain a copy of a complete article?
The Portland Cement Association’s library can provide full copies of articles for a fee. Major credit cards are accepted. Call Bill Burns at 847.972-9176, or e-mail wburns@cement.org
How can I search the database?
The simple search form allows the database to be searched by word or phrase. All fields are searched simultaneously.
Please note: Multiple search terms are treated as a phrase. For instance, you may search for "heat island" or "sustainable development."
By truncating a term, such as "cool community," all possible variations will be retrieved. In this case "community" will retrieve "community" and "communities."
Avoid using broad terms like "cement" or "concrete." Use narrower terms such as "parking lot," or "greenhouse," or "carbon dioxide."
The results can be narrowed by using the "Find" function of your browser to search for additional terms.
